Video of T-Pain going at Jay-Z for being old made the rounds yesterday, and it was clearly too little, too late for T-Pain, who did that weird mugging with Jay-Z back in June. It was clear T-Pain was realizing that dissing Jay-Z would be better for his career than being deferential. Furthering that notion is the above interview, where T-Pain told MTV News that:
Jay-Z ain’t out of touch. Jay-Z been doing his thing for years. If he’s out of touch, then everybody’s out of touch. Jay-Z just set the record straight because he’s that important. They feel like they got to have that niche, in order to make something, in order to make a hit. They feel like if they put autotune on it, it’s instantly a hit. Jay-Z just shut all that down. When people feel like they’re getting shut down, of course they’re gonna say things like that, like Jay-Z is out of touch. Jay-Z ain’t never been out of touch, that’s the craziest thing in the world.
Which is hilariously contradictory to what he said this weekend. Bravo work T-Pain.
For his part, Jay-Z responded to T-Pain's comments on a radio show yesterday the same way he's been responding to beef since his battle with Nas; he ignored it. "I hope he had a great time," Jay says in the interview below. He really is above all this now.
