MTV Lists Best Albums of 2009 So Far
MTV has listed their Best of 2009 thus far, with top spots going “indie” outfits Animal Collective, Phoenix and Dan Deacon. The “empowering yet vulnerable” Kelly Clarkson and “super-smart” Lily Allen represent for pop sectors, and Mos Def is the only hip-hop mention. MTV also picked Amadou & Mariam, which is interesting given that Welcome to Mali came out last November. “If only pop could be this good,” writes James Montgomery, the article’s author, of honorable mention Bat for Lashes. If the indie crossover keeps up, maybe it will be.

Kelly Clarkson has the BEST album of 2009. I also wish that MTV would go back to playing more music videos.
