MTV Announces EMAs Nominations

The MTV VMAs are still fresh in the memory, but the network’s European arm has already announced its nominations for this year’s EMAs. This is MTV’s yearly dip back into the music world, which it has mostly abandoned in favor of cheap-to-produce reality TV shows—but clearly Lady GaGa can snatch them some viewing figures.

Yes, our friend in the meat dress is once again heading up the nominees, but this time she faces some stiff competition from Katy Perry. Both artists have four nominations each in the EMAs, alongside a fairly predictable list of names, that includes nods for Vampire Weekend and Arcade Fire in the Best Alternative section.
