MTV to accept political ads

Viacom has announced plans to reverse a policy of banning political campaign ads on its Music Television channel. While other Viacom networks like Comedy Central and VH1 have always accepted the ads, the decision to ban them from MTV has existed since the network's beginnings in 1981. Now MTV and all its sister networks (excluding those specifically for children) will accept political ads from candidates and committees. Third party ads will not run, meaning don't expect Randy Jackson Presents America's Next Top Swiftboat Veterans For Truth.
