MP3 Tag Editing made easy

via Wired
A few weeks ago, as my bulky iRiver hard drive player started making weird noises and displayed a flickering screen, I decided to step up my efforts to transfer the tracks to a shiny new (black)(refurbished) iPod with video. Sadly, I used the folder based navigation on the iRiver, which meant that my tags were in a horrifying state, and of course I didn't have any of the niceties like album art embedded in them.
It's a sordid tale, and somehow in the process of evaluating tag editors (which can batch edit tracks, or automatically download information off the Interweb) I've probably made my collection worse. Hopefully you can glean some usefulness from my experience with this roundup, even if you're one of those freaks who use Linux (note: I am one of those freaks that uses Linux. On occasion.)
