Mountain Goats announce solo tour with John Vanderslice

Main Mountain Goat John Darnielle has announce a new all-acoustic tour with John Vanderslice, set to kick off in Asheville, North Carolina in March. The tour will feature both Johns doing solo sets, playing songs old and new, and then playing together. The tour will be called Gone Primitive because, according to Darnielle, "the whole point of playing an acoustic guitar is not to unplug. It’s to get raw and draw blood." So, will these be intimate shows? It seems so. But will they be tame? Well, hardly.

You can also catch Darnielle getting raw and drawing blood on a boat as part of Ships and Dips V. The annual event, put together by the Barenaked Ladies, is a Caribbean cruise and will also feature performances by the Weakerthans, Christine Fellows, and none other than Sarah McLachlan. The cruise begins Feb. 1 in Miami and runs through Feb. 6.

After that, on Feb. 24, Darnielle will appear at Herbst Theater in San Francisco as part of City Arts and Lectures. Darnielle will talk at length with author Tobias Wolff and play some songs. You can find any and all upcoming Mountain Goats shows below.
