The audience appearance at American Idol and suggestion for a Crue-themed show seemed like an understandable cash grab by band frontman Vince Neil, but there may be something else afoot. Motley Crue will be appearing on tonight's episode of Bones to perform "Dr. Feelgood." It's unclear whether the band will be playing themselves or a band in the fictional world of the show that has also recorded a song called "Dr. Feelgood." This possible paradox, though it initially seems inconsequential, calls into question the suspension of disbelief that is required to watch the program. Viewers already have to accept a fictional "Smithsonian" fighting crime, the kid from Freaks and Geeks basically existing in suspended animation for twenty years, and the entire F.B.I. not realizing that one of their number is, in fact, a vampire. Swallowing an alternate reality Motley Crue may be too much. I'm sure Vince and the boys don't care because they get their precious "exposure," but this throws back the sheet on a full-blown continuity nightmare. And why, in closing, have Motley Crue on your program anyway, when the show's theme is composed by the Crystal Method and the sister of lead actress Emily Deschanel is in She and Him? Continuity lapses can be forgiven, but lapses in taste are inexcusable. [NME]
