Most useless greatest hits compilations of all time

Music fans love to make lists, and this list of the nine most unnecessary greatest hits compilations seems on the surface to be of the amusing waste of time variety. I clicked the link, expecting to see things like What I like About You and Other Great Hits by the Romantics or Billy Ray Cyrus: The Definitive Collection. After a couple of clicks, I started to feel like Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now. This list takes its readers to a very dark place.

Though some of the albums aren’t really all that bad (nothing’s that wrong with Young M.C. or Tone Loc), there are a fair amount of these albums that will be on my personal soundtrack in Hell. The list encompasses misguided entertainers (Bruce Willis), sports stars who should have known better (Shaq), and basic dreck (Aaron Carter). I am now in the process of trying to forget Nelson or Color Me Badd ever existed.

My personal picks for the list would have to be The Essential Don Johnson and 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Ready for the World. While I am sure there are more useless collections out there, I feel that Miami Vice went way down hill when Johnson started his singing career, and I can’t forgive that. I also refuse to believe that Ready for the World truly attained ‘master’ status in the previous millennium. [Cracked]
