In the wake of the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, a benefit concert was put together with the hopes of raising money to fund the clean-up effort. Gulf Aid, which went down yesterday, was headlined by John Legend, Lenny Kravitz, Ani Difranco, and Mos Def, who performed with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. But rather than just perform a set of his classics, which I'm sure he did, Mos gave the audience the first sampling of a new track he apparently recorded with Kravitz and Trombone Shorty. The track, "It Ain't My Fault," is a reworked version of a New Orleans cut by the same name and features updated lyrics to address how Mos feels the oil companies aren't taking responsibility for this mess.
"It Ain't My Fault" will be available on iTunes today.
