Morrissey has been in the news this week, principally due to the trouble he’s undergoing in finding a new label and for his Glastonbury appearance. Now the singer has capitalized on this brief raising of his profile by taking a shot at one of his own fansites—Morrissey-solo.com.
The former Smiths singer played a show in Bradford in England on Monday night (June 27), where he came out for a second encore wearing a T-shirt that read “FUCK MORRISSEY-SOLO.COM.” The Guardian found this blurry photo of the event, which also includes members of his band kitted out in the same attire.
So what happened here? It’s unclear exactly why Morrissey has taken this action at this time, but that Guardian piece highlights the negative rep the website has among certain fans, which may partly explain it.
