Morrissey Lists His 13 Favorite Albums Of All Time

The guys behind excellent British music site The Quietus have just tweeted this message: “Apologies to anyone having trouble with the site, Morrissey’s favourite albums have conspired to slow it right down. We’re pumping in RAM.” Yes, the former Smiths singer has contacted the Quietus to deliver his 13 favorite albums of all time, and while he has refrained from commenting on them, it still makes for interesting, if slightly predictable, reading.

No one will be surprised to see the New York Dolls’ eponymous debut topping the list, and the inclusion of Nico, Sparks and the Velvet Underground won’t raise too many eyebrows either. But in the lower reaches of the chart there are a few unusual choices—did anyone peg Morrissey as a Jeff Buckley fan? Or as an enthusiast of folky Irish singer Damien Dempsey? Head over to the Quietus for commentary on the list, which looks like this:

    01. New York Dolls: New York Dolls

    02. Ramones: Ramones

    03. Patti Smith: Horses
