The feud between Morrissey and NME, which stems from accusations in the music publication that the former Smiths singer may have racist leanings, was hashed out in court yesterday. Morrissey is suing NME and its former editor, Conor McNicholas, over a 2007 interview that touched on his feelings about immigration.
The magazine asked for the action to be “struck out” when representatives from both sides of the case appeared in the courtroom; Morrissey himself wasn’t present. The hearing continues today, although the NME’s counsel Catrin Evans has stated that the singer’s case is “not a genuine bid for vindication” according to this report in the Independent.
