Morello Dismisses Sony Conspiracy Theory, Reaffirms Band's Commitment To Sticking It To The Man

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello says that Sony was not involved at all in the successful campaign to launch "Killing in the Name" to the United Kingdonm's coveted Christmas Number One spot instead of X Factor winner Joe McElderry's debut single. Morello said that he tried to investigate rumors circulating that Sony, who also releases Simon Cowell's X Factor recordings, was pulling the strings to get both spots at the top of the charts. He went on to say that he and Sony are no longer in contact, and that he couldn't even get an e-mail back from the label. Rage fans should therefore pat themselves on the back for engineering the biggest upset in the history of the U.K. charts; in their happiness they can probably overlook that the band was signed to Sony in the first place.
