The annual “Pavement to reform” rumors have emerged once again, this time via a post on the blog BrooklynVegan. The post claims that “reliable sources” have said the band will reform in 2010, with multiple dates in Central Park (possibly as many as four shows) scheduled for September.
No verification has been made by any of the band members, although various stories about a possible reunion already surfaced earlier this year. In fact, the group did play together briefly as a wedding band, and Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg has indicated that he is interested in getting them on the road again.
Further rumors circulated that Pavement might get back together and play ATP, which would make a lot more sense than the often-repeated suggestion that they might would a comeback at Coachella. So, no official word has been passed down yet, but if it did happen it’s likely that Malkmus and his crew would play to much bigger crowds than they did first time around.
