The Montreal Jazz Festival recently revealed this years lineup for the upcoming event and included amongst the performers are acclaimed acts The Roots and Cat Power, legends B.B. King and Dave Brubeck, and under the radar acts Mark de Clive-Lowe and Andrew Bird who, in our estimation, released the best album of 2005.
The festival, which runs from June 29 to July 8, will take place in a number of venues throughout Montreal. Other artists taking part in the festival include Seu Jorge, MSTRKRFT, Buck 65, and Knaan, alongside traditional jazz acts such as Wayne Shorter and McCoy Tyner. DJ Shadow originally planned to appear this year, but cancelled for unknown reasons.
Running strong for 27 years, the Montreal Jazz Festival stands as one of the worlds largest music festivals and consistently attracts many world-renowned acts. Over the years Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie, Etta James, Herbie Hancock, and Charles Mingus have all performed at the festival. In 2005, notable acts Feist, K-OS, Four Tet, RJD2, and Amp Fiddler took the stage. The full list of acts for this year can be found here.
