Those Scottish noisemakers in Mogwai have been a busy lot as of late, what with their upcoming CD/DVD package that includes the Special Moves record and the concert film, Burning hitting shelves on Aug. 24.
With all the media attention coming their way, what better time than to announce a new LP, which the band says will be released in February 2011. While no title has been revealed, Mogwai's seventh full-length and first since 2008's The Hawk is Howling will reunite the band with drummer/producer Paul Savage, who first worked with the five-piece on their 1997 debut, Mogwai Young Team.
In a statement to Spinner UK, Mogwai guitarist Stuart Braithwaite says, "I think it's going to be an interesting record. Quite often, when we go into the studio our songs are nearly written. There's almost a tone of a song, but as the whole band, you haven't realized where it's going." [via NME and Consequence of Sound]
