These Scottish post-rockers have spent most of the last year and a half on the road following the release of their sixth studio album, The Hawk is Howling. And for those of you unable to catch Mogwai's dynamic live act in person, they are releasing a concert CD/DVD. The 45-minute DVD portion, Burning, features footage from the band's three-night residency Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg in April 2009.
As for the CD half of the package, Special Moves comes with 11 tracks spanning the group's catalog. That means you get early epics like "Mogwai Fear Satan" along with recent cuts such as "I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead." The CD also marks the first time Mogwai has officially released a live compilation. You can download one of the live tracks by going here, but you have to share this announcement with your Facebook friends first. Seems like a decent trade-off, though.
