Modest Mouse bows at #1

We win again, bitches! Woo-hoo!!! Of course the question is, "Who's 'we?'" Can't really call a band "indie" that's been on Epic for three albums. But whatever. That doesn't make it any less surreal that Modest Mouse has a Billboard-topping album. If someone would have told me that would ever be the case back when I was in college, blaring Lonesome Crowded West at eardrum-punishing levels, I would've just turned the music up louder, because what's the point of listening to a madman?
Yes, Billboard reports that We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank reigned supreme last week, moving 129,000 units. It beat out Joss Stone and two American Idol abominations, Elliott Yamin and Daughtry. Wow, maybe there is hope for humanity.
Kind of fitting that this comes on the heels of the Shins' similar success, as Isaac Brock was instrumental in bringing that band to Sub Pop. Just hope all the newfound fame doesn't lead Brock to any more cutting like what he did on stage last week. No sharp objects, okay, Ike?

Yeah, it's amazing how big the band has gotten. The first time I saw them play there were about 30 people in the venue.

Just finished listening to it and I love it! One of my top 3 modest albums

I can't believe it beat Elliott Yamin - he got a makeover, too!
