New Modest Mouse track hits the radio

During our much-needed holiday publishing break, a radio rip of the new Modest Mouse song, "Dashboard" began making rounds on the internet. Though "Dashboard" is nothing new to regular Prefix readers, we're now privy to the final product. Sure, it's in "glorious" 96 kbps, but beggars can't be choosers.
Even through the muddy rip, you can hear that "Dashboard" is much more polished than songs on previous Modest Mouse releases; even 2004's Good News for People Who Love Bad News. The jangly, upbeat guitars sound a little too much like Franz Ferdinand for my liking, and Isaac Brock's vocals just sound...off. It'll be interesting to see how much this song represents the new album's sound.

oh crap. that's the stupid "chipmunk" effect for tracks not encoded at a certain speed. I'm going to take down the stream for now and just leave the download up.

Over at the band’s MySpace page, you can preview the first single, “Once Upon a Time.” Staying true to form, it’s full of whirling pianos, chimes and breathy French loverboy vocals.            [...]
