The synths have been stored away for the time being as Moby is returning to his Connecticut hardcore roots by reuniting with his 80's band Vatican Commandos, whose releases included the "Hit Squad for God" EP.
While VC will play their first show in over 25 years at New York's Mercury Lounge on July 17, Moby is also touting his cheeky hard rock/metal project, Diamondsnake, which he claims "was borne out of a shared love for entering a small, dark, and musty room, plugging into a few amps, and playing as loud as possible for a seriously long time.”
After churning out nostalgic dance on Last Night followed by lush downtempo on Wait for Me, the self-proclaimed "little idiot" does seem to be in a different frame of mind musically these days as his recent Twitter post indicates. It reads: "Vatican commandos rehearsal at 2pm, Diamondsnake recording at 6pm. loud loud loud, which is awesome." [via Brooklyn Vegan]
