Ian MacKaye finally sells out (a little)

Hardcore god Ian MacKaye has finally licensed Minor Threat, but don’t expect to hear “Straight Edge” in a Gillette commercial. MacKaye has instead given his blessing to Minor Threat Hot Sauce, produced by Brooklyn’s Wheelhouse Pickles. Though the illustration on the label comes from Minor Threat’s Bottled Violence, the hot sauce won’t feel like a Doc Marten to the intestinal tract. Wheelhouse owner Jon Orren says the sauce actually made from a rare mild habanero that emphasizes the “fruitiness” of the pepper of its “notorious heat.”  So the sauce is kind of…wait for it…wait for it…a minor threat!  If you’re a fan of Minor Threat or ironic food, keep watch at your local grocery store. Orren says that he wants to see Minor Threat (the sauce) become a “mainstream American condiment.” This would easily be the most accessible project to which MacKaye has ever lent his name.
