Check your calendars: Today marks the 14th anniversary of Tupac Shakur being shot after a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas. One that night in 1996, Tyson needed only one round to obtain the WBA boxing title from the reigning champion, Bruce Sheldon. Shakur, on the other hand, received the bullet wounds that would eventually kill him six days later.
But, not many people knew Tyson and Shakur had a chummy relationship out of the public's eye, and a documentary about the two will air tonight one ESPN called "One Night in Vegas: Tyson and Tupac." Apparently among the highlights of the two's friendship was Shakur offering to smoke up Tyson, which he declined. Tyson, not wanting the public to know he partook in marijuana inhalation (let's face it, 2Pac had a big mouth), describes turning down the offer as "my biggest regret."
Now, we know that quotation was definitely taken out of context, but really, Mike? You were convicted of rape! You bit off part of Evander Holyfield's ear on national television! You went to jail again on assault charges! You tattooed half your face! You publicly stated you wanted to eat Lennox Lewis' children! And, not smoking weed with 2Pac was your biggest regret? What?!?
The documentary with air at 8 p.m. EDT on ESPN.
