Prolific vocalist-producer Mike Patton will add to his expansive catalog this November with the release of Music From The Film and Inspired By The Book The Solitude of Prime Numbers (La Solitudine Dei Numeri Primi). As you can no doubt gather from its title, the album is based on Paolo Giordano's 2008 novel, The Solitude of Prime Numbers, and the film of the same name, which was released in 2010. Both the film and book follow the lives of two characters, or twin primes, whose lives run close to each other but remain lonesome.
Patton has described the project as a "sonic departure" from his previous work as it features a more cinematic, personal air running throughout. The album also contains some pretty crazy-sounding packaging. It's a multi-panel digipak release that features a leaf cut out that's been embossed with a lock.
You can view the track listing below. It is intentionally sequentially numbered with the first 16 prime numbers. The album drops Nov. 1 on Ipecac Recordings.
