Comedian Mike Birbiglia and This American Life host Ira Glass really went out of their way this summer to promote their indie film Sleepwalk With Me. The duo went as far as to tear ticket stubs and make popcorn at theaters and even got The Avengers director Joss Whedon to wage a tongue-in-cheek viral video war.
Now that Sleepwalk With Me is hitting video-on-demand from IFC Films, Birbiglia and Glass are breaking new ground with movie promotion by offering a video chat with anyone who throws a pizza party to watch the film this Friday. In the video released to promote the event, Birbiglia even jokingly suggests charging friends to come to the party to make money, which Glass refutes as “a violation of federal law.”
Watch the video below to get more information on how to host your own Sleepwalk With Me pizza party and the info on how to join in on the video chat this Friday. The film is an incredibly funny and charming true story about Birbiglia’s troubles with sleepwalking during his early stand-up career and one of the best movies of the year, so it’s well worth inviting some friends over to watch.
