The more I listen to Midlake's The Trials of Van Occupanther, the more I like it. Dealing with the album's at-first offputting pre-modern storyline is a lot like dealing with Sufjan's Jesus-loving. If you just tune the words out a bit, the music sounds even better.
Now there will be a lot more to like about the record as, over the next ten weeks, videos for most of its tracks will premiere on the web. Starting today, you can check out the video for "Head Home" over at Spin.com. Every new Monday will bring a new video on various different music blogs. Yours truly, Prefix, will help bring the clip for personal favorite "Bandits" into the world on October 16.
This all wouldn't be complete these days without another video contest. Fans can submit entries of their own visions for the track "It Covers the Hillsides." Since I've been writing alot lately about these types of contests and am frankly getting a bit tired of it, I'll just point you towards the website with all the rules and regs.
