Microsoft confirms 120GB Zune, people everywhere refuse to remove their iPod earbuds to hear news

Microsoft has confirmed its plans to release a 120GB model of the Zune, after a FCC filing report revealed the plans before the company could make an official announcement.

Microsoft also promises “new Zune pricing” and “new Zune software.” Unless that means turning Zunes into iPods or giving them away for free, it seems unlikely a Zune with ridiculous amounts of storage (who really needs to have 120GB of music at their fingertips?) will bring the Zune guy back, or increase Microsoft’s market share. "Who really needs to have 120GB of music at their fingertips?"

Well I guess you aren't a real music fan or anything. My current MP3 player has a capacity of 100G and I'm constantly deleting music to add music.

Maybe you should find another industry to report in that's more appropriate to your interests.

I don't think Microsoft can compete with Apple...of course, both have their loyal fans, users and customers, but come on, iTunes, iTunes, iTunes! As for 120GB, I'm not surprised, in the near future, the storage will just keep increasing until 500GB or something. Yes, I know it's crazy, but who would have thought that an iPod could hold 160GB?

I wasn't saying that it's not convenient, I was more questioning whether or not it's necessary to have that much music on a device. It's convenient, but excessive. I'll admit, it's pretty cool, but I survive with a 4gb iPod Nano and just put stuff I know I'll listen to while walking or riding the bus.

Don't forget that these things also play video, which eats up [relatively] large quantities of hard drive space. On the other hand, I would have preferred to see a completely new design instead of a storage space upgrade...
