Michel Gondry picks the 25 best videos of the last 25 years

As a part of their “New Classics” feature to celebrate their 1,000th issue, the folks over at Entertainment Weekly asked Be Kind Rewind director (and frequent music video director for the likes of Beck and the White Stripes) Michel Gondry to name the 25 best music videos of the last 25 years.

His picks contain a bit of the obvious (“Billie Jean,” “Sabotage” “Virtual Insanity,” “Give it Away,” and “Sledgehammer”), the less obvious (“Drop” by the Pharcyde, Devendra Banhart’s “A Ribbon,” and “Perfect Kiss” by New Order”), and the “holy crap, I forgot how awesome this video/song was” (“Wild Thing” by Tone Loc, “Burning Down the House” by the Talking Heads, and “Rockit” by Herbie Hancock”).
