Earlier this week, it was reported by British newspaper The Sun that the music icon has begun work on his first studio album since 2001, and that he has enlisted the production aide of Will.i.am and current hot producer Kanye West. For his part, West Will.i.am was so stunned to be asked for his services that he took some convincing to believe it was really happening. ''"Michael called me out of the blue and I just didn't believe it was him," Kanye Will.i.am told the British paper. "I was like, 'Come on, who is this; how did you get my number? Stop playing around.' He said, 'No, it's really me; it's Michael.''' I still didn't believe it was him and was like, 'Dude, seriously, I got to go,'" he continued. Regardless of your personal feelings about Michael Jackson, given his apparent shift away from being an American music star in favor of international audiences, it is interesting to see him laying the foundation for creating a distinctly urban album. It could be like a modern-day Thriller, which will be cool, because we'''ve always wondered how a white guy would have made that album.

Weirdly ironic... early last week I realized that since trading up from cassettes to CD's, I had never upgraded THRILLER. Over the weekend I picked it up used and my wife and I rocked it all weekend. "Human Nature" has to be the illest thing he ever recorded. |
