Michael Jackson Dominates Billboard Charts, Sells 800 Thousand Albums

In the first full week of sales since his death, Michael Jackson again dominated Billboard's album charts, selling 800,000 copies of his albums last week. That's almost double the 422,000 copies his albums sold in the first few days after his death.

Last week, Jackson dominated the catalog album charts with eight of ten spots, but this week he holds all ten. But two Jackson albums, Number Ones and Thriller, will be numbers one and two on the Billboard Comprehensive Album Charts, which tracks total album sales.

The biggest news regarding Jackson's sales is how much of the sales were of actual hard copy CD's; 82 percent, according to Billboard. That means Jackson albums moved 656,000 CDs last week, which is probably going to be close to beating out a huge number of CD sales for the rest of the chart combined. [Billboard]
