Michael J. Fox is set to return to TV with a starring role in a new series for Sony Pictures Television. The single-camera show will be written by Arrested Development and Cougar Town scribe Sam Laybourne and director Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends With Benefits) has also signed on to direct.
Details on the series have not been released, but The Hollywood Reporter claims that it will be inspired by Fox’s life. Sony has already pitched the show to four major networks and hopes to have the series launched by next year.
Fox last starred in Spin City, but left the series in 2000 after publicly revealing he suffered from Parkinson’s disease. He has since appeared sporadically as a guest star in shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm, Rescue Me and The Good Wife.
