Well, here's a surprise for you: yesterday, Mister Heavenly, the supergroup containing Honus Honus (Man Man), Nick Thorburn (Islands, The Unicorns), and Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse) signed to Sub Pop. At their first-ever live performance that night, opening for Passion Pit, it was revealed that Michael Cera, yes, that Michael Cera, is playing bass for the group. No word as to how long the movie star will remain with the group outside of their current West Coast, or if he is in fact a permanent member of the band.
The move is not entirely shocking when one considers that Cera once appeared in an Islands video (for Vapours track "No You Don't), and has twice portrayed bassists on the big screen (in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist).
A release date for Mister Heavenly's debut album is pending. Check out this article over at The Stranger to see pictures of Cera's debut performance with the band.
