Michael Gira Announces Solo Tour, Prepping Swans Live Album

When Michael Gira prepared for the Swans comeback he initially issued a set of songs titled I Am Not Insane under his own name. Many of those tracks ended up on the excellent 2010 album by the band, My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky. Now Gira is returning to his solo work, announcing a tour that will include five U.S. shows.

Much of Gira’s solo touring activity will take place in Europe, where Christoph Hahn of Swans will open up for him throughout most of April (go here for those dates). The U.S. shows will precede the release on a long-promised live album by the current incarnation of Swans, which is due on Gira’s Young God label at some point in the future.

The U.S. tour schedule looks like this:

  • 03.15 San Francisco, CA: The Great American Music Hall
  • 03.16 Los Angeles, CA: The Echo
  • 03.22 Seattle, WA: Triple Door
  • 03.23 Portland, OR: Mississippi Studios
  • 03.24 Denver CO: The Oriental Theater
