M.I.A. Hates On Tenacious D, Makes Bird Flu Joke, Reminds World That Kala Was A Long Time Ago

Haters need to hate, but if you point a finger there are three pointing right back at you. When the Beastie Boys dropped out of Outside Lands because of MCA's illness, organizers scrambled to find a replacement. The solution, Tenacious D, isn't exactly on level with the Beasties, but these things happen. Apparently nobody told M.I.A., who had the slot before them. She dropped the following bomb on Twitter:

 

I ORIGINALLY BOOKED ON SHOWS COZ BEASTIES WERE HEADLINERS , BUT NOW THEY AINT DOING IT AND I JUS WANNA SAY , WE HAVE TO GO HARD!!!

CANT BELIEVE THEY REPLACED BEASTIES WITH Tenacious D ??????????????????????AND IF I PULL OUT THEY SUE! SO REALLY? Tenacious D AFTER ME ?

SO ME AND JACK BLACK ARE BACK TO BACK, BEASTIES GET WELL SOON!

Everyone is of course entitled to an opinion, but perhaps M.I.A. should realize that Jack Black is stepping up to the plate to fill the slot, and that most of the crowd will have a better time listening to Tenacious D than listening to Kala again with a little Slumdog Millionaire thrown in for good measure. Uh, I'd much rather hear "$20" or "Bird Flu" than hear "F You Gently" or "Tribute." I respect they're stepping up where they were asked, but isn't M.I.A. more popular? Plus it's not like Tenacious D have done anything since that terrible movie a few years ago.

I never really Loved M.I.A., Kala is a good album but I grew tired of her repetitive timbre and lyrical content..
Jack Black is also getting taxing, Tenacious D's first album was awesome, so the tour was great, the pick of destiny bit hard, so the live show has probably gone downhill with it..

I don't really care for M.I.A. but I wouldn't say I hate her. What I do hate is people with holier than thou attitudes.

I really had no interest in seeing M.I.A. in the first place and I really don't want to see her if she's going to be up on stage complaining about a situation that was largely out of everyone's control. I wish the Beasties could have been there too, especially since they were the only band all weekend I was *really* looking forward to seeing but given the situation and the amount of backlash the organizers have gotten over Tenacious D, I have a feeling the D is going to make this a spectacle I won't soon forget.

All You Haters are SLEEPIN. Tell me how many recording artists are out there right now with the influence on pop culture that M.I.A has, and has the content she does? Does anyone listen to what she has to say? M.I.A talks about social injustice, corruption, famine, poverty essentially the real issues that are affecting this world and actually MATTER. It is inspiring to see someone get fame and keep the same message going instead of singing about their dripping wet vaginas or lamenting hearts. PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR TIGHT DIRT HOLES AND SMELL THE NAPALM.
