M.I.A. Goes In On Lady Gaga, 'Twilight' Producers
She's baaaack: In a new interview with NME, M.I.A. is back on the war path, taking time to drop bombs on the producers of Twilight and Lady Gaga, who some people claim bit M.I.A.'s style*.
First here's what she said about the Twilight people, who apparently approached her to cut a song for the soundtrack:
"They asked me-- luckily Jimmy [Iovine, boss at M.I.A.'s label Interscope] had beef with the Twilightpeople, so he stepped in and told them to fuck off.
Nice. But she drops some fists in Lady Gaga's grill with these quotes:
"People say we're similar, that we both mix all these things in the pot and spit them out differently, but she spits it out exactly the same. None of her music's reflective of how weird she wants to be or thinks she is. She models herself on Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza disco, you know? She's not progressive, but she's a good mimic. She sounds more like me than I fucking do!"
Boom, right in your face, Lady Gaga. "The music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza Disco" FTW. The funny thing is is that both Gaga and M.I.A. are signed to Interscope. That'll be an awkward company picnic. 50 Cent might have to play mediator.

*- I think it's more accurate that Lady Gaga jocked a lot of Santigold's singing patterns, particularly on the hook for Wale's "Chillin," and Santigold is influenced by M.I.A. more than heavily. So it's via Santigold, basically.

Love her music and I'm proud to know that does exist artists like her over there, sending they message, somehow...fans of gaga, keep going with your eyes close, that's the easy way to live...
