Robert Moog’s series of legendary keyboards helped shape the sound of numerous bands and cheesy thrift shop Beatles covers albums, and now the great man is being honored by a festival in his name. The first annual Moogfest will take place in Asheville, North Carolina, on October 29-31.
Full details of the event aren’t yet known, but a few artists have been announced to play the event, including MGMT, Massive Attack and Thievery Corporation. More names are expected to be announced on July 27, with workshops, panel discussions and other fun events planned. And surely something spectacular and creepy will be planned for the closing night of the festival on Halloween.
"Bob Moog changed the course of music as we know it," organizer Ashley Capps said. "He put new worlds of sound literally at the fingertips of musicians, unleashing a creative revolution. We're thrilled and honored to be able to celebrate his extraordinary legacy in the place that he called home and we hope to do so for many years to come."
More info on Moogfest is available at the festival’s official website.
