If the name Trunks doesn't immediately ring any bells, think back to Doom's excellent King Geedorah record. Remember about a minute and a half of dense sci-fi rap entitled "Lockjaw"? That's Trunks. If the three tracks posted on HHNLive.com are any indication, Trunks has a Doom-produced record on the horizon -- though any information pertaining to said record is scant (the project is called Unicron, apparently). The trio of songs includes production via two previously released Special Herbs ("Devastator" and "Monster") and a catchy, loungey synth-pad number entitled "Who's a Hero," which may be a variation of the track Doom made for his intro on The Next Spit. The lyrics aren't quite as heady or blistering as the ones on "Lockjaw," but they retain the same good-natured nerdiness; references include Stan Lee, the Dark Knight, Clive Barker, and drinking.
Excited for this. Doom's turned himself into a clown in a way, but his early stuff is great, and the KG record was always among his best.

Devastator is great. Promising.

Geedorah is probably my favorite Doom LP, right alongside OPERATION DOOMSDAY and the first Vik Vaughn. But there's something insanely perfect about TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER. I really hope this LP materializes unlike the Ghostdoom, Madvillain 2, John Robinson proper LP, etc etc etc.
