Metric Take On Don Delillo With David Cronenberg Film Score

In what might make for some of the oddest bedfellows since Prince provided the sonic background for Tim Burton's Batman, electronic-glam-guitar-pop darlings and Broken Social Scene offshoot, Metric, have signed on to score David Cronenberg's adaptation of Don Delillo's short novel Cosmopolis.

As reported by indiewire's The Playlist, Metric announced it will team with Lord of the Rings composer Howard Shore to create the music for Cronenberg's film, which has already completed shooting.

The novel, set in Manhattan circa 2000, probes the heart of a city ready for the bubble to burst, and follows a multi-millionaire broker in a limo on a one-day odyssey across the island.

Robert Pattison, playing yet another bloodsucker, portrays the broker, with Paul Giamatti, Juliette Binoche, and Samantha Morton rounding out the cast.

Toronto served as the location for shooting, with the Quebec city standing in for Manhattan, so maybe it's only apt that the Montreal and Toronto-based Metric provide the backbeat.
