Metallica, Stooges, Run-D.M.C. all in the running for 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions
The yearly list of aging rockers who are up for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been announced. The museum was famously called a “piss stain” by the Sex Pistols in 2006, and the whole voting process was called into question in 2007, when the Dave Clark Five were refused induction despite garnering more votes than Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
Undaunted, the organizers have carried on regardless, stringently sticking to the rule that potential inductees must have released their first single or album 25 years prior to nomination. The list for this year looks like this:
Jeff Beck Chic Wanda Jackson Little Anthony and the Imperials Metallica Run-D.M.C. The Stooges War Bobby Womack
Who gets your vote? The ceremony doesn’t take place until April 4, 2009, so there’s plenty of time to decide. Personally I’d like to see Chic or the Stooges get the vote. There must be plenty of Iggy-related memorabilia for the museum to stock up on. Ballots have been sent out to 500 voters, who will cast the ultimate decision. [Brooklyn Vegan]

It's about damn time the Stooges got in. I propose that if they don't get in this year, Iggy goes to Cleveland and bleeds on the rock hall in protest.
