Metallica To Rock Danish Prison

That’s right! Metallica is playing a gig at Statsfængsel, a former prison for inmates serving long terms, in Denmark on Jun. 6, 2012. Built 158 years ago (in 1853), Statsfængsel was a high-security facility until its closing in 2006. Now, of course, the prison and its grounds act as a large scale entertainment venue, having hosted several festivals and other events. Metallica hasn’t been jailed like this since about 2003, when their comeback single, “St. Anger,” was filmed at San Quentin State Penitentiary in California. Active or not, playing at a prison is pretty wild. Metal heads, rejoice! [NME]
