Merge Celebrates 20 Years with Covers Comp, Concerts

    googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-1'); });

    Merge turns 20 this year, and to celebrate, they’re releasing the coolest covers compilation to come about in some time. THE COVERS! , which will hit shelves on April 7 in a limited run of 7,500, will feature twenty tracks of artists covering their favorite Merge acts. Of note is the first release of Calvin Johnson’s new project the Hive Dwellers, as well as Ted Leo’s interpretation of Robert Pollard’s "The Numbered Head." The track listing is below–apparently, Superchunk songs are fun to cover.

    Also, if you’re going to be in North Carolina July 22-26, you can catch XX Merge, which will feature concerts by past and present Merge bands. The lineup hasn’t been announced yet, but I don’t think you can come up with a bad combination of Merge artists.
