Menomena's New LP 'mines' Due July 27th

Portland band Menomena has announced its fourth LP, mines, set to hit stores July 27th on Barsuk (July 26th via City Slang in Europe). The indie power trio, known for its distinctive brand of loopy yet percussive experimental rock, has used homemade recording programs, oddball packaging, and a website that looks like it was made on Geocities to promote its past eccentric records (including I Am The Fun Blame Monster, instrumental modern dance soundtrack Under an Hour, and Friend and Foe). So far, the guys have kept mum about their latest effort, but mines will include the laid-back jam “Queen Black Acid,” recorded for Pitchfork.tv’s Surveillance Video series last September at ATP New York. P4K’s also got a sneak peak at the band’s Record Store Day split featuring fellow PDX group The Helio Sequence.

Based on these two tracks, I’m guessing mines won’t disappoint. Think it’ll be a good follow-up to 2007’s Friend and Foe? Sound off below!
