Just because you can remix a song doesn't mean you should. This is the rule that Menomena's "Weird (Dekoder Remix) is definitely NOT the exception to. This effort at a remix takes one of the (many) standout tracks on their critically hailed album, Friend and Foe and reduces it to a very pedestrian house track. If you are looking to remix your first track and are looking for the following: "Official remix Guide", and "Remixes for Dummies", don't bother, they are with Menomena. From vocal cut-ups to various synth layers the band pretty much employs all the industry standards on this one. While it has potential in the beginning with a decent drum track and some well placed texture, overall it feels as if they mailed this one in. But, hey, it's got a catchy beat that you can dance to when you've got four glow sticks around your neck and are a gallon of water into your rave in some loft. That way you won't have to think about the lack of creativity.
