Just because you play thrash metal/rip shit in a band called Megadeth doesn't mean you're all doom and gloom. At least, that seems to be the case for bassist David Ellefson, who revealed that he's studying to become a Lutheran pastor. Billboard reports that he is an online student at Concordia Seminary under their Specific Ministry Program.
This apparently wouldn't surprise anyone that knows Ellefson personally, because he attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church every Sunday growing up in rural Minnesota. He's also written songs for the churches he's attended over the years, including one in Arizona. He had the following to say about that experience:
"For a Christmas service, I remixed some classics, not quite in a Megadeth fashion, but in a pretty heavy rock fashion," Ellefson said.
As for all of us who aren't close to Ellefson, well, this is a bit of a shocker, especially given past Megadeth album titles like Rust In Peace and, of course, Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good!. Photo credit: Miluta Flueras.
