On a day when Ozzy Osbourne seems nearly sane, Meat Loaf seems to be picking up the slack, announcing his retirement as the beginning chords of "Paradise By the Dashboard Lights" began to waft through the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle England. While I was not really aware that Meat Loaf was still out there fighting the good fight and there were many times I stood idly by while he was compared to Celine Dion, every rock fan, in their darkest moment, has found themselves at one point listening to and enjoying a Meat Loaf song. Though this man's retirement is a blip on the radar, I for one salute Mr. Loaf with one last horned hand. May his retirement (if it sticks this time) be filled with gentle rocking and many golf games with Alice Cooper.
