Pool plans shaping up for this summer in NYC
Via Brooklyn Vegan:
L.A. certainly has a lot of live music, but there are still events I read about in New York City that make me wish I lived in that East Coast megalopolis instead of this West Coast one. Like last year's McCarren Park Pool concert series. Reading about those on various blogs made them sound like a helluva good time. Of course, with our better weather here in L.A., we tend have our swimming pools filled with water during summers.
Well, New Yorkers can look forward to more poolside fun this summer. JellyNYC, the company that produced last year's shows, has announced they will put on another series of concerts again this year. No known acts yet; last year's participants included Sonic Youth, Deerhoof, Of Montreal, Les Savy Fav, and Beirut. We do know this year's dates: June 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, and August 5, 12, and 19. JellyNYC also adds this:

JELLYNYC will also be co-producing three other dates at the McCarren Park Pool, including a benefit for the Open Space Alliance (OSA) on June 10 (ticket cost will be no higher than $15), a FREE show on June 21st celebrating the first annual Make Music New York Festival, as well as a FREE event with our dear friends The Brooklyn Brewery in mid September--Brooklyn's own Roctoberfest. For those of you who don't know, in Germany Octoberfest starts in September.

The Bloc Party show last summer was bananas! That was before the disappointment of the 2nd album kicked in... Walkmen show got rained out unfortunately and I missed the YYY's show but everyone who went said it was crazy. I'm def interested to see who they have this year.
