British electronic musician Matthew Herbert recently recorded a piece of music titled “One Day," which was entirely inspired by a copy of the Guardian newspaper. Herbert tried to cover as many aspects of the production of the newspaper as possible—he was given tapes of interviews that appeared in the paper and went to he printing presses and recorded the sound of the newspapers being churned out. Herbert took the recording process to its logical conclusion by bringing “One Day” out into the open for a live performance at the Royal Festival Hall in London, which was undertaken with the London Sinfonietta. To find out how he did it, head over to (where else?) the Guardian to view this series of video clips.
