Matthew Dear Releases Second SIngle, Plans To Tour, Release Album In 2012

Michigan’s Matthew Dear makes mid-tempo electronic music that appropriately got him signed to a label called Ghostly. He’s fresh off the release of his Headcage EP (which came out today), and he’s dropped the work’s second single, “In The Middle (I Met You There).” For me, it’s the highlight of the four-track Headcage, with a drum loop that cruises and singing that adds melodic strength. In a few days, Dear will embark on a 14-date tour, doing DJ sets and playing with a band. He’ll hit up both Noise Pop and SXSW. And he’ll be joined at some shows by Tycho, Choir of Young Believers, Com Truise, Mux Mool, Shigeto. Below, you can stream the entire Headcage EP–including “In The Middle,” and then check out Dear’s road dates after. Look out for Beams, Dear’s next full-length, which should drop this year.
