Damon Albarn to appear on new Massive Attack album

Via: NME
Am I the only one that's starting to get really excited about the new Massive Attack album? The group is currently in studio, working on the follow-up to 2003's 100th Window, and is assembling quite an impressive list of guest vocalists. The latest to be added is The Good, The Bad And The Queen's Damon Albarn. According to the NME, Albarn has worked on a few tracks with Massive Attack in studio. This is in addition to the vocalists already scheduled to appear including former Mazzy Star frontwoman Hope Sandoval and TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe. Horace Andy and Liz Fraser will once again add their vocal talents as well.
Although no release date has been announced as yet, the group apparently "could have enough material to release two albums in 12 months." The working title for the album at the moment is Weather Underground.

This is sizing up to be quite good. Does Albarn ever sleep?

Man, I hope this comes out this year. They claimed in 2003 when they released 100th window that weather underground was going to be out by the end of the year, with guest appearances by tom waits and mos def. Now four years later, I just hope they release something.

They have good taste in guest vocalists.

these guys are music's answer to terrance mallick. i suspect they are under a bit opf pressure to actually release something good this time. let's face it their last couple of albums have seena gradual decline in quality, with 100th window being pretty underwhelming. they need to get back to their roots - hip hop and soul - and lose this obsession with tinny techno and guitars

i agree. my first album was actually mezzanine, but i really got into the original trip-hop and now i really can't even listen to 100th window. i think that they've just misunderstood themselves as too much of an electronic group. high expectations for recovery

I've been to Rome and Cologne in 2008's tour, and I've heard lot of new songs that will come out with their new album actually called
