It looks like America’s premiere film critic, Roger Ebert, is making his way to the silver screen. Life Itseslf: A Memoir, Ebert’s 2011 book, has been optioned for a documentary by none other than Martin Scorsese. The legendary filmmaker is set to produce the film with Steve James (Hoop Dreams) as director and Steve Zaillian (The Gangs of New York) as executive producer.
“To think of [James] interested in my memoir is awesome,” Ebert told the Chicago Sun-Times. “Zaillian and Scorsese are also brilliant film-makers. I couldn’t be happier, especially since I never thought of Life Itself as a film.” [Guardian]
