Jayhawk Mark Olson releasing new solo album

June 15th will see the release of The Salvation Blues, a solo album from Jayhawk co-founder Mark Olson. The record will be released by Hacktone. Fellow Jayhawk Gary Louis contributes to the album, co-writing one song and singing with Olson on three tracks. As with Lucinda Williams' latest, Salvation Blues is informed by a lot of personal hardships Olson has gone through. He split with wife and fellow singer-songwriter Victoria Williams. The divorce meant Olson lost the house he'd built in California. To get away from it all, Olson headed out on a road trip through Europe, during which he put down most of the demos that became Salvation's new material.
